We are currently accepting applications for the Winter 2018 session of GO-GIRL (Gaining Options: Girls Investigate Real Life™). The Saturday program is an enrichment program for 7th grade girls only and is held on the Wayne State University campus.
The program will begin with orientation on January 20th, 2018, and meets over the course of 8 Saturdays from 9:30 am-2:30 pm. The program is hosted by the Wayne State College of Education at no cost to participants.
The GO-GIRL curriculum is aligned with national and state standards for middle school mathematics, and provides a technology rich learning environment proven successful with middle school girls. During the 8-week Saturday program, mentors will guide their girls as they participate in research activities in laboratories across campus, learn how to access university library resources, meet informally with female researchers, participate in discussions related to career options, and develop individualized plans for high school and college preparation. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to explore the University campus and participants. Girls who complete the 7th grade program are eligible to participate in future GO-GIRL activities through high school. Applications are due December 2nd, 2017.
