Federazione Abruzzese del Michigan Scholarship

Dear Student:

The Federazione Abruzzese del Michigan invites students to apply for a scholarship to support participation in the summer educational program, Wayne In Abruzzo, 2020. Students may apply directly at Wayne State University, Department of Classical and Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. Please contact Dr. Raffaele De Benedictis, 415 Manoogian Hall at (313) 577‐6258 or via email at ad7858@wayne.edu. The deadline for applying is March 27th, 2020.

Please include a one‐page narrative with your application that explains why you’d like to study in Italy. Those students who already have an advanced track record in Italian must write the narrative in Italian. All other students may choose to write in English. In addition to the application, you must complete the budget worksheet, a short narrative, an unofficial copy of your transcript, and your resume.

It is important to note that relative to the entire cost of a program, a grant will in most cases cover only a small portion of the total expense. Typically, awards range from $500 to $1000, depending on quality of the application. Students with exceptional financial need should investigate other avenues of support. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Recipients of the scholarship will be expected to contribute to the promotion of Wayne in Abruzzo. Promotion activities will be coordinated through Dr. De Benedictis and may include the following activities: helping with student information meetings and orientations, assisting incoming exchange students, helping the Wayne In Abruzzo resource table the annual Study Abroad Fair, and/or working with promotional events for Wayne in Abruzzo.

Application Checklist:

-          Completed Application

-          Budget Worksheet

-          Short Narrative (not exceeding one page)

-          Statement of willingness to promote Wayne in Abruzzo. Give us some idea of the contributions you might make.

-          Resume

-          An unofficial copy of your transcript.

Grants are given to as many students as possible. Because funds are limited, not all students who apply will receive an award.

For questions or additional information contact Dr. De Benedictis at (313)577‐6258 or via email at ad7858@wayne.edu.

Thank you,

Federazione Abruzzese del Michigan
