2018 Saxophone Day @ Wayne

Join us for our 3rd Annual Saxophone Day @ Wayne State University on March 25, 2018. This event is open to any and all area middle and high school saxophonists with a passion for improvement in their saxophone playing abilities. Some of the many exciting events for the day are listed below:

-Masterclass w/ Dr. Matthew Younglove

-Putting the "fun" back in "fundamentals" with Prof. Russ Miller

-Guest Artist Derek Brown – inventor of the saxophone beatboxing technique (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpOjubVQVac)

-Large Saxophone Ensemble (rehearsal and performance)

-Product trials with area vendors

-Jazz Jam Session

Cost: Registration is $30. Every registered student receives an event t-shirt and a pizza lunch (those with dietary restrictions, please email the event coordinator in advance of the event day). Registration includes participation in all events. Auditor passes are $10 and allow entrance to all events, but does not include participation. The evening concert is free and open to the public.

 

Masterclass participation: If you are interested in performing a work from the standard saxophone repertoire in the masterclass, please be sure to indicate it on the registration form. A pianist will be provided. Pre-existing quartets are welcome to apply. Registration Deadline: March 10, 2018
