Social Work Faculty Teaching Award

Each academic year, the School of Social Work recognizes one full-time and one part-time faculty member for their outstanding contribution to undergraduate and/or graduate social work. These awards aim to recognize individual faculty for teaching that stimulates intellectual curiosity in students, inspires departmental colleagues, and makes students aware of significant relationships between the School and the world-at-large.

Please consider nominating a faculty member of your choice who, in your opinion, devotes attention to providing an excellent learning experience for Wayne State University SSW students, through the following:

  • A strong commitment to students and to teaching and learning
  • Excellence in teaching, as evidenced particularly by the use of effective teaching strategies and notable methods of assessing student learning
  • Innovations in teaching and learning
  • A strong commitment to working effectively with a diverse student body
  • A demonstrable impact on students’ intellectual and professional development and on their lives.

Upload a statement below (in 500 words or less) that addresses the nominee's activities that warrant consideration for the award. Nominations must include this statement for the nominee to be considered. Make sure to address how the nominee's activities are creative, innovative, involve leadership and the impact they have on their students.
