General Information
The WSU Math Corps Summer Camp and High School Bridge Program is a six-week mathematics enrichment and mentoring program for students in grades 7-12, who live and/or attend public schools in the cities of Detroit, Hamtramck, and Highland Park. As of right now, camp will operate virtually utilizing Zoom and Google Classroom. It is expected that if you received a tablet last summer, you will use that to participate this summer, we cannot provide an additional device. We are currently not sure if we can provide a tablet for new students at time. The program, which this year will run from Tuesday, July 6th, 2021 - Friday, August 13th, 2021, brings middle and high school students together with college students and mathematicians, to share in the teaching and learning of mathematics, in a university setting.
The Summer Camp serves students who, in the fall, will be entering the 7th or 8th grade, while the High School Bridge Program serves students who will be entering the 9th grade. High school students entering the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade serve as paid Teaching Assistants (TA’s) and Program Assistants (PA’s).
The 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students receive instruction from University faculty and enjoy a variety of learning activities led by the college and high school students under the supervision of professional educators.
