Lab for Health and Environmental Informatics (LHEI) Research Assistant Application

The Lab for Health and Environmental Informatics (LHEI) is currently seeking a part-time research assistant. Dr. Nic DePaula, assistant professor for Wayne State’s School of Information Sciences, and LHEI work on research on health communication, health data analytics and environmental health information.

Activities in this position include data processing, data management and data analytics. Candidates must be able to use Python, R or similar scripting software to process and manage data, obtain descriptive statistics and create data visualizations. Interest or previous research in health informatics, health communication, and/or environmental health a plus. Potential to participate as author in research for publication.

Qualifications: 

  • Command of data analysis tools (e.g. R, Python, Julia) and techniques.
  • Ability to write scripts, process data files (e.g. CSV, JSON), and create data visualizations.
  • Plus: Interest in health communication, health informatics, and/or environmental health.
  • Plus: Experience with statistical analyses such as hypothesis testing and regression. 

Salary and Hours: $18 per hour. Approximately 10 to 15 hours per week.

Location and technology: Fully online (remote work). Student has own personal computer and reliable Internet access.
