Working Groups Program
The Humanities Center welcomes proposals for working groups organized by faculty in the humanities and related disciplines. This program supports interdisciplinary groups of scholars who wish to explore shared scholarly interests. Working groups meet regularly throughout the academic year to share work in progress, to read and discuss texts, to undertake scholarly, pedagogical, and/or public-facing activities, and to address broader issues in the humanities and associated fields. Applications are due by June 6, 2025.
The Center will fund up to two proposals with up to $2,000 each, with the expectation that the working group will put on a public event (e.g., inviting an outside speaker, undertaking a small public humanities project) or produce a tangible outcome (e.g., a co-authored article, new curricular programming). Additional funding beyond the original award of $2000 may be available for funded working groups proposing a large-scale public event (e.g., a conference).
Please note: Funding may not be used for salary.
Eligibility
All WSU full-time faculty in the humanities, arts, and related disciplines are eligible to submit proposals. Please note the following limitations:
- Principal members of the group must be WSU faculty. Working groups may also include graduate students, advanced undergraduates, part-time faculty, and/or community members.
- Working groups must include at WSU faculty from at least two departments.
Conditions
1. A complimentary copy of any tangible final product (book, article, exhibition catalog, video, etc.) must be submitted to the Humanities Center.
2. Recipients must acknowledge the Humanities Center’s support within the publication and/or event itself.
3. Recipients must submit a report on their Working Group to the Humanities Center by May 15, 2025.
